Brie’s Journey and Coastal Yard Designs
From a young age, Brie was captivated by the art of gardening, sharing this passion with her mother and grandmothers. At just 13, she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a landscape designer. Brie’s dedication to her craft began early, as she became one of the youngest volunteers for Metro Parks Tacoma.
After graduating from Wilson High School, Brie’s academic journey took her to Delaware Valley College in Pennsylvania and Montana State University in Montana, culminating in a BS in Horticulture. Her professional experience spans several esteemed organizations, including Plantscapes in Seattle, Edgewood Flower Farm, and Earth Dance Organics. At Earth Dance Organics, Brie had the privilege of working with Bill Peregrine, a respected figure in organic and native design.
Brie and her husband also embarked on a personal project, rehabbing several homes in the Tacoma area before settling in Aberdeen and eventually Ocean Shores. This hands-on experience further deepened her understanding of landscape design and maintenance.
At Coastal Yard Designs, Brie’s philosophy is to create landscapes that harmonize with the property and client’s vision, using natural elements to craft low-maintenance, engaging spaces. She believes in listening closely to her clients, visualizing their descriptions, and drawing inspiration from their ideas to design functional, deer-resistant landscapes. Coastal Yard Designs specializes in “Mow-free, Low-maintenance, Deer-durable, and Ecologically friendly” designs. Brie is passionate about educating and inspiring her clients, aiming to provide spaces that are not only beautiful but also practical and in tune with the surrounding environment..
